The carbon filter works as a waste tank / pipe odour trap. It is a compact, high-performance ventilation solution incorporating the McAlpine Ventapipe Two-Way Active Carbon Filter.
It is designed to reduce odours from:
- waste holding tanks
- waste pipes
- septic tanks
- sewage treatment plants
- external drainage systems
- grease traps
- and temporary sanitation setups.
Engineered by McAlpine, this unit combines a two-way air admittance valve with an integrated active carbon filter, which has a large surface area and high adsorption capacity to effectively remove odorous compounds from the air. It allows displaced air to be vented from the waste tank while significantly reducing unpleasant odours before the air is released.
Specifically suited to above-ground and off-grid applications, its robust, space-efficient design makes it ideal for installations where traditional venting is not practical.
It is made from high-quality materials that are resistant to weathering and UV radiation, ensuring that the filter will last for many years in even the harshest environments.
How does it work?
When wastewater enters a tank (e.g. when a toilet is flushed), it displaces an equivalent volume of air. This filter unit enables that air to escape while passing through the active carbon, which neutralises odorous gases. The two-way valve also allows air to enter the system when required, helping to maintain balanced pressure and consistent flow.
This filter is suitable for 75mm (3") and 110mm (4") pipework - please see the downloads area on this page for the product sheet showing dimensions and instructions.
The internal carbon cartridge is replaceable and has an estimated lifespan of up to 24 months. Please replace every two years.
