This Grey Water Filter offers an efficient, eco-friendly way to treat grey water from sinks, showers, and washing machines. Ideal for off-grid homes, static caravans, shepherds' huts, lodges or for anyone looking to reduce their environmental impact, reducing the amount of grey water discharged to the sewage network or sewage treatment plant / septic tank.
It "handles" about 300 litres of grey water per day, and allows occasional peaks of up to 50 litres per hour within that overall figure.
Compact and frost-resistant, it’s easy to install and needs no electricity. Using natural bio-filters, it passively removes impurities and can be expanded by adding additional units in series to handle larger volumes. Supplied with 1 x 30 litre bag of filter material (sufficient for three months) it’s a low-maintenance solution for sustainable grey water management all year round.
Additional filter material can be bought from this site - you should aim to replace the filter material every three months. Used material can be disposed of in a composter / standard household waste bin.
The filtered water has a range of applications, provided that no grey water with harmful chemicals or excessive detergents have passed through the system. Although the unit tolerates small amounts of anti-bacterial and chlorine-based detergents, we advise the use of bio / eco detergents.
Use the filtered water on ornamental plants or to irrigate of your lawn. However, we recommend that you do not use filtered water on edible plants to minimise any potential health risks.
NOTE: This unit is not suitable for "black water" (toilet waste) or rainwater.
